With a mission to revive the unique sounds of Gypsy Jazz - a form of jazz largely known by the French name "jazz manouche" - in the tiny island of Bahrain, Mohammed Rashid Trio rekindles the aesthetics of swing jazz with their own contemporary take.

Fronted by Mohammed Rashid, one of Bahrain’s well known jazz guitarists, the Trio is heavily inspired by the revolutionary playing style of Gypsy Jazz pioneer Django Reinhardt, while simultaneously infusing contemporary renditions of both Arabic and Western classics to produce a sound that will take you all the way back to 1930s Paris, the very home of jazz manouche.

Their recent EP release, Middle Eastern Gypsy Sounds Vol 1, has been making waves in the local music circuits and has been warmly welcomed as one of the shining examples of local independent music in the Kingdom. Mohammed Rashid has played in jazz festivals around the world and will be featured along 7 international and local acts in the upcoming Royal Jazz Fest, which is Bahrain’s 1st international open air jazz festival.
